Community Outreach
Spectrum and its employees believe in giving back to the community.
Our employees are actively involved in the communities we live
in as volunteers -- social outreach, sport and academic
coaching, charitable fundraising, community governance -- and
financial donors to help make a difference
in the lives of our family, friends, and neighbors.
Below are just a few of the community efforts in which Spectrum
participates or sponsors:
 |
In January 2007, Spectrum executive vice president, Martin Burke, went to Nicaragua with a group
of Federal IT Business leaders to build a community
center in an area known as Ticuantepe.
Bridges to Community is the non-profit community
development organization that led the effort. Bridges
takes volunteers to developing countries to work, learn,
and reflect. Through the process of living and working
with local communities on construction, health and
environmental projects, Bridges promotes cross-cultural
learning, a deepening awareness of our global
interdependence and a commitment to the common good. |

Spectrum and its employees enjoy and
appreciate the parks in their communities. On May 6,
2006, Spectrum gave back to its parks in
Fairfax County as a corporate sponsor of the
Cross County Trailfest an exciting multi-community
event. The
Cross County Trail (CCT) is the primary north/south
multi-use trail in Fairfax County, VA that stretches 40
miles from the Potomac River to the Occoquan River.
Trailfest celebrated the grand opening of the CCT
featuring dozens of programs and activities along the
trail. Spectrum was the sponsor of the Lake Accotink
section of the trail. |

Spectrum enjoys making Christmas a
little more special for families in need through
annual participation in Our Lady of Good Counsel's Christmas
Adopt-a-Family program. Shopping, wrapping and
delivering gifts to local families is an annual activity
that Spectrum employees really get into!
