Spectrum Systems Expands Application Development
Solutions for Federal Government
Products from Flashline, Industrial Medium and Solstice
added to Spectrum’s GSA Schedule
Fairfax, VA – October 7, 2003 – Spectrum Systems, Inc., a leading government
reseller and systems integrator, today announced that it has added
software solutions from Flashline, Inc., Industrial Medium LLC, and
Solstice Software, Inc. to their General Services Administration/Federal
Supply Service (GSA/FSS) Schedule (GS-35F-5192G). The GSA Schedule is a
government wide procurement contract that combines “fair and reasonable”
pricing with ease of procurement for a multitude of products and
services.
Spectrum has expanded
its application development offerings with the Flashline Registry™, a
software asset management and reuse solution; Industrial Medium’s
Expressroom web content and site management software; and Solstice
Software’s software integration testing solution. Combined with
Borland’s Application Lifecycle Management product suite, Mercury
Interactive’s Business Technology Optimization solutions, and other
product lines already on Spectrum’s GSA schedule, the company is now
able to provide government customers with a complete application
development capability from concept to long-term productivity
optimization and management.
“With the explosive
growth in size and complexity of government software applications, it is
imperative to utilize productivity tools at every stage of the
development process,” explained Ron Segal, president and CEO of Spectrum
Systems. “With the addition of these leading products, Spectrum now
offers the government the only complete toolset in the industry – each
with the best value proposition in its space, and each fully integrated
with major competitive tools as well as the other tools in Spectrum’s
application development product line.”
The Flashline Registry delivers commercial best practices for sharing and managing
software assets, including Web services, components, frameworks, and
models. Combined with the FlashPack™ for Federal Enterprise Architecture
(FEA), the pre-configured solution enables agencies to manage compliance
with, and speed adoption of, the FEA, and assists agencies with managing
their Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Exhibit 300 business case
submissions.
“Federal agencies are moving forward with initiatives like Federal Enterprise Architecture,
legacy modernization and software consolidation. To gain the most value
out of these programs, they must be able to reuse architectural and
component assets across agencies,” states Charles Stack, founder and
chief executive officer of Flashline. “Flashline is well positioned to
help agencies promote agency-wide reuse and speed the adoption of these
key IT programs. We are excited about our partnership with Spectrum
Systems and look forward to bringing the benefits of software asset
management and reuse to the public sector.”
One of the goals of the e-government strategy is to improve government response time to
citizens – from weeks down to minutes(1). Industrial Medium understands
that in today’s cost-conscious business environment, the business that
an organization conducts on the Web is mission-critical. It is essential
to have quality, relevant, and up-to-date Web site content. Industrial
Medium’s Expressroom is an XML-based content management solution that
allows organizations to more efficiently create and manage their Web
sites. Designed to run on any operating system that supports Java,
Expressroom enables development of design, content, and code in
parallel, decreasing the overall time needed to develop and update
content. Expressroom includes a robust graphical workflow system, a
transactional deployment model, and a strong security model.
“We’re extremely pleased to be working with Spectrum Systems to provide the federal
government with an Enterprise-class Content Management solution that
integrates seamlessly with common MS Office © desktop productivity
applications – ensuring that our customers maintain maximum workforce
productivity and reduce the overall learning curve,” commented John
Barrett, Industrial Medium’s managing partner.
The systems integration, cost reduction and validation within the federal government
are ongoing issues. Solstice Software delivers automated testing
software that validates the messaging backbone that is the heart of
technology integration projects. With a focus on messages, and specific
support for legacy integration, Enterprise Application Integration (EAI)
and Web services projects, Solstice’s Integra Enterprise solution can
help federal agencies deliver critical integration projects on time and
on budget by taking the end-to-end testing phase off of the critical
path. Integra Enterprise provides automation, simulation, and validation
for message-based applications. Integra Enterprise allows project teams
to test earlier and more effectively, reducing the risk of delays,
overruns, and production system errors.
Lori Gipp, vice president of marketing for Solstice, shared Solstice’s
heritage working with the government. “Government clients with their
high degree of integration have been core customers of Solstice from the
beginning. By automating the time consuming testing and validation
process, we help our clients deliver projects faster, at lower cost and
with higher reliability.” Gipp further commented “With Solstice’s
messaging solution, and the other application development solutions
Spectrum provides, government clients will be able to secure a full
solution from one source. We are very pleased that we were able to
partner with Spectrum as this streamlines the buying process for
Solstice’s valued government clients.”
In combination with GAO’s push for improving enterprise architecture
management government-wide(2), software productivity solutions that allow
for reuse of software assets, efficient web content management and rapid
integration of technologies are of the utmost importance. Spectrum
Systems can provide its customers with these solutions along with the
application lifecycle solutions that are required to accomplish these
goals.
